Custom Dog Collars and Tags With Your Dog's Name

A custom dog collar puts your dog's name, and a phone number if you want one, on the thing it wears every day. This shelf is for dog owners, and for anyone buying a gift for a friend with a new dog.

How personalizing works

  1. Pick the giftAny piece here. Order one, or many of the same.
  2. Send a logo, photo or noteUpload a file, write us a note, or both.
  3. Approve your proofWe design it and email you a proof. Nothing is printed until you approve it.

Same logo on every piece: order one or many, no minimum.

There are two collars and a tag. The Heavy-Duty Clip-On Nylon Dog Collar is printed in full colour, so a pattern, a name and a number can run along it. The Engraved Faux Leather Dog Collar carries the name marked into its surface in a single tone, with no ink. The Engraved Aluminum Dog Collar Tag takes a name and a number cut into the metal rather than printed on it, so there is no ink layer to rub away. Prices run $22.99–$33.99 depending on the piece. Add a note with the name and number or upload artwork; we design it and email you a proof of the collar or the tag, and nothing is made until you approve it.

Printed or engraved: choosing a collar and a tag

The Heavy-Duty Clip-On Nylon Dog Collar is the printed one. The dye bonds into the surface instead of sitting on it, so a pattern, a background colour and coloured lettering all reproduce along the collar, and the colours read truest on a light base, as the guide to printing dye into a surface explains.

The Engraved Faux Leather Dog Collar and the Engraved Aluminum Dog Collar Tag have no ink at all. Engraving marks one tone into the material, so the design has no colour of its own and there is no printed layer to rub away, and it suits a name, a phone number or a simple outline rather than a photo. Build the artwork as solid black on a transparent background; anything that is not transparent is engraved. The guide to engraving small metal tags gives the minimum text height, and the guide to engraving without ink shows how the mark takes on the material's own tone.

More with your dog on it

The collar carries the name; a photo of your dog belongs on something larger. Custom blankets and custom throw pillows take a full photo, custom mugs put it on the morning coffee, custom ornaments mark a first year together, and custom keychains keep the same photo on your own keys.

Custom Dog Collars and Tags With Your Dog's Name — common questions

Should I choose the nylon or the faux leather dog collar?
Choose the Heavy-Duty Clip-On Nylon Dog Collar for colour: a pattern, a background and lettering in any colour, printed along its length. Choose the Engraved Faux Leather Dog Collar for a name marked in the material's own single tone, with no ink and no colour in the design itself.
Can I put my phone number on a custom dog collar?
Yes. The Heavy-Duty Clip-On Nylon Dog Collar prints whatever text you type, so a name and a phone number can sit side by side along it, and the Engraved Faux Leather Dog Collar takes them engraved. A collar is narrow, so a short name and one number stay readable where a full address would not; check the digits on the proof.
Is there a Do Not Pet collar with a handle?
There is no collar with a handle on this shelf. A message such as Do Not Pet or In Training can be printed along the Heavy-Duty Clip-On Nylon Dog Collar as typed text, in a colour that stands out from the rest of the design.
Can the faux leather dog collar carry a photo?
No. Engraving marks the faux leather in one tone with no ink, so a photograph turns into a dark patch rather than a likeness. Use the Engraved Faux Leather Dog Collar for a name, initials or a simple paw outline, and keep photos for the larger keepsakes linked above.
What should go on the engraved aluminum dog tag?
Your dog's name and a phone number, in a heavy, simple typeface. The Engraved Aluminum Dog Collar Tag is a small piece of metal, so thin strokes and long lines of text lose their shape; two short lines read far better than four. The guide to engraving small metal tags, linked above, gives the minimum text height.
Can the collar and the tag match?
Yes, by lettering. The Engraved Faux Leather Dog Collar and the Engraved Aluminum Dog Collar Tag both carry the name in a single engraved tone, so the same name in the same typeface ties them together. The Heavy-Duty Clip-On Nylon Dog Collar adds colour, and can repeat that name in a colour of your choice.
