This shelf holds stretched canvas in several depths and sizes, a framed version, satin and matte surfaces, and the rigid formats that treat a photograph differently — aluminium composite panels, wood panels, a ceramic photo tile and a gallery board with its own stand. You upload the photograph, we crop it to the shape you chose, and you see the result on an emailed proof before anything is made. Production is 1 to 3 days before the piece ships. Lighter paper formats and smaller art prints have their own shelves, which is where to go if the piece is destined for a frame you already own.
Canvas, framed canvas, metal, wood or tile
Stretched canvas is the default and the most forgiving surface: the weave is slightly textured, which is kind to a photograph that is not perfectly sharp. A frame around it is a furnishing decision rather than a protective one. Matte and satin surfaces differ in how much they reflect.
Aluminium composite panels and the ceramic photo tile are hard, flat surfaces — less forgiving of a low-resolution file and a different look entirely from cloth. Wood panels let the grain read through the lighter parts of an image, which suits some photographs and fights others.

Choosing a size, and what the edges do
Order larger than feels obvious: a photograph that looks generous on a phone reads as a postcard on a wall. Each listing gives its finished size, and the stretched canvases come in a ladder of them.
Then mind the wrap. On a stretched canvas an outer band of the image folds around the frame edge, so anything important near the border ends up on the side of the piece rather than the front. The proof draws that fold line, so check that nothing you care about crosses it before you approve. The rigid panels have no wrap, so the whole image stays on the face.

- What resolution does a photo need for a custom canvas print?
- Enough that it is not enlarged past its own detail, and the larger the piece the more it needs. A photo from a recent phone is comfortable at the middle sizes; a small, old or screenshotted image reads soft once it is a wall piece. Upload the original rather than a re-saved copy.
- Does the image wrap around the sides of a stretched canvas?
- Yes, on the stretched formats. An outer band of the photograph folds over the frame edge, which is why the proof draws a fold line. Anything crossing it — a face near the border, a line of text — ends up on the side rather than the front. The rigid panels have no wrap.
- Is a canvas print ready to hang when it arrives?
- The stretched and framed canvases arrive assembled on their frame. The fixing that ships with each piece is stated on its own product page, because it differs between the canvas depths and the rigid panels, and the gallery board comes with a stand rather than a hanger.
- Canvas or an aluminium panel for a bright photograph?
- The panel, if the file is sharp — a hard flat surface holds saturated colour and reads cleanly. Canvas, if the original is a little soft, because the weave is forgiving in a way a smooth panel is not. Both are on this shelf so the choice is yours rather than ours.
- Can a black and white photograph be printed on canvas?
- Yes, and it is one of the formats monochrome suits best, since there is no glass reflection competing with the tonal range. Convert the file before uploading rather than asking for the conversion, so the contrast you approved is the contrast that prints.
