A ceramic coaster is a hard tile. Hardboard is a pressed board, and here it comes with either a hardboard back or a cork bottom. The cork-backed coaster and the corkwood set bring cork into the piece itself, a natural material against the table.
Every coaster on this page is printed by bonding colour into a light surface, which the guide to colour that bonds into the surface covers in detail. Two things follow from it: white in your design shows the coaster's own surface rather than printed white, and placement can move slightly from one coaster to the next, so let backgrounds run past the edge.
