Custom Comforters With Your Photo, Name or Pattern

A custom comforter turns the biggest surface in a bedroom into a place for a family photo, a favourite pattern, a team crest or a child's artwork, and this shelf gathers four covers for the top of a bed.

How personalizing works

  1. Pick the giftAny piece here. Order one, or many of the same.
  2. Send a logo, photo or noteUpload a file, write us a note, or both.
  3. Approve your proofWe design it and email you a proof. Nothing is printed until you approve it.

Same logo on every piece: order one or many, no minimum.

There are two comforters: a lightweight polyester comforter and a cotton comforter. And there are two coverlets, the covers laid over a made bed like a bedspread: a chevron quilted coverlet, stitched in a zigzag quilted pattern and the one to choose for a photo quilt, and a woven-style fringe coverlet with a fringed edge and the look of a woven bedspread. Prices run CA$100.17–CA$158.84 depending on the piece. A photo comforter suits a teenager's room, a graduation, a gift for grandparents with the grandchildren on it, or a cover remembering someone or a pet. Upload your photo or design; we set it across the bed and email you a proof, and nothing is made until you approve it.

Comforter, coverlet or quilt: what goes on the bed

A comforter is the main cover you sleep under, and there are two: the lightweight polyester comforter and the cotton comforter. A coverlet is a cover laid over the top of the bed like a bedspread: the chevron quilted coverlet has stitched zigzag quilting and is the photo quilt on this shelf, and the woven-style fringe coverlet has a fringed edge and the look of a woven bedspread.

Printing a photo across a bed cover

A bed cover enlarges every detail, so start from the original photo file rather than a screenshot or a picture saved from social media. The lightweight polyester comforter and both coverlets take colour that bonds into the fabric, which shows brightest on a light background, as the guide to colour bonded into fabric explains. The cotton comforter is printed on the cloth before it is cut and sewn, so the design runs continuously across the panels; the guide to printing fabric on the roll covers how.

Dressing the whole bed

A comforter can match custom pillowcases and shams printed with the same pattern, and a throw pillow or a rug beside the bed can carry the same photo. For something to throw over the sofa rather than the bed, see the custom blankets.

Custom Comforters With Your Photo, Name or Pattern — common questions

Is a comforter the same as a blanket?
Not quite. A comforter is the main cover of a bed, sized to cover the mattress, while a blanket is a throw for the sofa or an extra layer under the comforter on a cold night. For a printed throw for the sofa, see the custom blankets linked above.
What is a coverlet?
A coverlet is a bed cover laid over the top of the bed like a bedspread, on its own in warm months or over a comforter for the look of it. The chevron quilted coverlet has stitched zigzag quilting; the woven-style fringe coverlet has a fringed edge and the look of a woven bedspread.
Can I make a photo quilt here?
Yes. The chevron quilted coverlet is the photo quilt on this shelf. Upload one large photo, or a collage saved as a single image, and it is printed across the quilted cover. A year of family pictures or a set of travel photos works when each picture in the collage is large and sharp.
Which comforter is the lightweight one?
The lightweight polyester comforter. It prints a photo or a pattern in full colour, with the colour bonded into the fabric, and suits anyone who wants a lighter cover on the bed. The cotton comforter is the choice when you want cotton.
Which comforter is made of cotton?
The cotton comforter. Its design is printed onto the cotton cloth before the comforter is cut and sewn, so the colour runs across the whole cover. The guide to printing fabric on the roll, linked above, explains that way of printing.
What kind of photo works on a custom comforter?
A large, sharp photo taken in good light, ideally the original from the camera or phone. A bed-sized print shows blur and noise that a phone screen hides, so avoid screenshots and pictures saved from messages. The proof shows how the photo crops across the comforter before you approve.
